OMT Object Model

6. Variant chosen

As far as we know, there is only one variant of Rumbaugh’s object model. Every article or WWW page that adresses object modelling refers to Rumbaugh’s book.
Rumbaugh himself however makes a difference between object modelling and advanced object modelling. We only consider here the first part because we feel that the concepts discussed in this part (classes, objects, association, aggregation and inheritance) are the most basic ones. The concepts discussed in the second part explain the subtleties of object modelling that should only be used when you are dealing with complex applications. Below you can find an overview with the topics discussed in each part.

At this moment James Rumbaugh and Grady Booch are working on a unified method, a combination af OMT and Booch’s method. There already is some information available, but it wasn’t enough to serve as a basis for this assignment.
Both James Rumbaugh and Grady Booch have planned to publish a book before the end of 1996. There will be two different books however, because they still don't agree on everything.
