7. Starting Blue

At the ``login:'' prompt, type the username for the user you created above. At the ``Password:'' prompt, enter your password.

You should then get a prompt like the following:

tinderbox:~$

At this prompt, type

startx

This should get you into an environment similar to that on the undergraduate machines at the Basser Department of Computer Science.

In general, to start Blue you only need to run Linux, either by running the LINUX.BAT file under DOS, or double-clicking on the Linux95 icon under Windows 95, then follow the steps in section Starting Blue.
